Commands to Obey? There are two ways of finding things: to casually stumble upon something or to be diligently seeking something on purpose. Does the passage you are reading in God's Word contain any commands that you should obey? See the Berean Bible Study method for a more complete explanation.

The Song Service
And these are they whom David set over the service of song in the house of the Lord, after that the ark had rest.
And they ministered before the dwelling place of the tabernacle of the congregation with singing, until Solomon had built the house of the Lord in Jerusalem: and then they waited on their office according to their order.
~I Chron. 6:31-32
The Service of Song in the House of the Lord
The sixth chapter of 1 Chronicles records the genealogies of the servants of the tabernacle and temple. Singing to God and about God has always been associated with the "formal" worship of God in both covenants; the first covenant (Old Testament) and the second covenant (New Testament).
Psa. 30:4 says "Sing unto the Lord, O ye saints of His and give thanks at the remembrance of His holiness."
Psa. 149:1 says "Praise ye the Lord. Sing unto the Lord a new song, and his praise in the congregation of saints."
Psa. 150:1 says "Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary:"
We praise God because of His holiness.
God is a Holy Person. God dwells in a Holy Place. Give praise to God in His "sanctuary". A sanctuary is a holy place.
God's House is first of all His entire creation.
When Solomon dedicated the temple that he built for the Lord, he prayed:
"But will God in very deed dwell with men on the earth? behold, heaven and the heaven of heavens cannot contain thee; how much less this house which I have built!" ~ 2 Chron. 6:18
God's House was the Temple
Solomon's temple was constructed with stone and with wood, but it was ALL overlaid with gold.
It was certainly "a glorious house" but Solomon understood that it would not be truly glorious unless God's presence would fill it.
We know that after Solomon had prayed that God's fire consumed the sacrifices and His glory filled the house.
God's House is His Church
I Tim. 3:15 "But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the pillar and ground of the truth."
New Testament churches are not such glorious structures, certainly not typically overlaid with pure gold. They first used the Hebrew local places of worship that developed called synagogues. The literal meaning of synagogue is "a place of assembly."
Followers of the Way (Jesus Christ) were all Jews at first and they would meet with other followers of Christ at their local synagogue. It doesn't seem that an entire synagogue all decided to follow the Way (considered a specific sect of Judaism: Acts 24:14)
Meeting in other followers' homes soon became the norm. (Acts 2:46; 1 Cor. 16:19; Col. 4:15)
A part of our worship should be "singing psalms, hymns and spiritual songs." (Eph. 5:19)
God's House is the Human Body of a Christian
The #1 word used for believers in Jesus or followers of Jesus or "members" of Christ's church is SAINTS.
What is a saint?
A saint is a holy person. You don't have to be sinlessly perfect to be a saint; you only have been born of God's spirit.
God's spirit is the Holy Spirit.
When the Holy Spirit lives within a human being, that makes him a Holy Person AND a Holy Place.
God dwells within us. Our bodies are "tabernacles" (2 Cor. 5:1)
Our HOUSE is a holy place and should be a place of worship!
Let us make a habit of worship. The song service begins in our own hearts!
