Read Deuteronomy Chapter 1
On this side Jordan, in the land of Moab, began Moses to declare this law, saying,
The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount:
Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates.
Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them.
Deuteronomy 1:5-8
God doesn't want His children living in Egypt.
God delivered His children from Egypt, which is a type of His saving us from the bondage we were in from our sins.
God calls us while we are under the rule of the prince of the power of the air and if we respond then we are delivered from the kingdom of darkness and translated into the kingdom of light.
12 Giving thanks unto the Father, which hath made us meet to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in light:
13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
~ Col. 1:12-14
For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:
~ Eph. 5:8
4 And these things write we unto you, that your joy may be full.
5 This then is the message which we have heard of him, and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all.
6 If we say that we have fellowship with him, and walk in darkness, we lie, and do not the truth:
7 But if we walk in the light, as he is in the light, we have fellowship one with another, and the blood of Jesus Christ his Son cleanseth us from all sin.
8 If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
10 If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us.
~ 1 John 1:5-10
God doesn't want His children living in the wilderness.
The journey from Egypt to Canaan could have been easily completed in 11 days. How long did it take the children of Israel? It took them 40 years. God judged them because they doubted Him and an entire generation expired before they had another chance.
Read Numbers 14:26-35
The wilderness wanderings are typical of a child of God living under the rule of his old self.
They were delivered FROM Egypt and many of them wanted to go back to Egypt but they could not.
That part was settled. It is so strange that so many long for the leeks of the old self-life when the land of victory and pleasure could be there's.
The wilderness was a place of defeat and misery.
God doesn't want you to live in such a place. He wants you to experience VICTORY in your walk with Him.
What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound?
2 God forbid. How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein?
3 Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?
4 Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.
5 For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:
6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin.
7 For he that is dead is freed from sin.
8 Now if we be dead with Christ, we believe that we shall also live with him:
9 Knowing that Christ being raised from the dead dieth no more; death hath no more dominion over him.
10 For in that he died, he died unto sin once: but in that he liveth, he liveth unto God.
11 Likewise reckon ye also yourselves to be dead indeed unto sin, but alive unto God through Jesus Christ our Lord.
12 Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body, that ye should obey it in the lusts thereof.
13 Neither yield ye your members as instruments of unrighteousness unto sin: but yield yourselves unto God, as those that are alive from the dead, and your members as instruments of righteousness unto God.
14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.
~ Rom. 6:1-14
It is not enough to be saved from sin's penalty. We need to be saved from sin's power, too.
Get out of the wilderness! You have been here long enough!
God wants His children to be conquering Canaan.
There is a land of milk and honey awaiting you. There are "giants" in that land. There are battles to face. However if you want to experience what God wants you to experience, you've got to face the giants.
Every foe will fall that you fight against in faith.
There shall not any man be able to stand before thee all the days of thy life: as I was with Moses, so I will be with thee: I will not fail thee, nor forsake thee.
6 Be strong and of a good courage: for unto this people shalt thou divide for an inheritance the land, which I sware unto their fathers to give them.
7 Only be thou strong and very courageous, that thou mayest observe to do according to all the law, which Moses my servant commanded thee: turn not from it to the right hand or to the left, that thou mayest prosper withersoever thou goest.
~ Joshua 1:5-7
But if thou shalt indeed obey his voice, and do all that I speak; then I will be an enemy unto thine enemies, and an adversary unto thine adversaries.
~ Exodus 23:32
There shall no man be able to stand before you: for the Lord your God shall lay the fear of you and the dread of you upon all the land that ye shall tread upon, as he hath said unto you.
~ Deut. 11:25
For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.
~ Jer. 29:11
The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy: I am come that they might have life, and that they might have it more abundantly.
~ John 10:10
The abundant Christian life is awaiting you. Don't fear the giants. Fear dying in the wilderness. Walk in the fear of God and you have no need to fear any foe.
There is more left!
Not as though I had already attained, either were already perfect: but I follow after, if that I may apprehend that for which also I am apprehended of Christ Jesus.
13 Brethren, I count not myself to have apprehended: but this one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind, and reaching forth unto those things which are before,
14 I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.
~ Phil. 3:12-14
