Commands to Obey?  There are two ways of finding things: to casually stumble upon something or to be diligently seeking something on purpose.  Does the passage you are reading in God's Word contain any commands that you should obey?  See the Berean Bible Study method for a more complete explanation.

December 1 Daily Discovery - Read Judges Chapter 6

To God be the Glory

Gideon was a man of small stature, the youngest son in his family, from a poor family and a smaller tribe of Israel.

God will not share His glory with another.  (Isaiah 41:8)

God started with an unlikely leader in Gideon who was hiding from the Midianites, threshing out some wheat.  God's angel addresses Gideon, calling him a "mighty man of valor."

Gideon gathered an army from the tribes of Manasseh, Asher, Zebulun and Naphtali, totaling 50,070.

God informed Gideon that his army was too big for him to deliver the Midianites into his hand.  The people would think that they provided their own deliverance.

If you are afraid, go back home.

Twenty-two thousand men left.  Now Gideon has 10,000 men.

The "Drink like a Dog" Test

Only 300 passed this test and God said, "That's more like it."
