Read Isaiah Chapter 6

When We See the Lord

In the previous chapter, Isaiah had pronounced six woes upon Israel and then in chapter 6 we see that He saw the Lord and then the woe was upon himself.

In the year that king Uzziah died I saw also the Lord sitting upon a throne, high and lifted up, and his train filled the temple.

Above it stood the seraphims: each one had six wings; with twain he covered his face, and with twain he covered his feet, and with twain he did fly.

And one cried unto another, and said, Holy, holy, holy, is the Lord of hosts: the whole earth is full of his glory.

And the posts of the door moved at the voice of him that cried, and the house was filled with smoke.

Then said I, Woe is me! for I am undone; because I am a man of unclean lips, and I dwell in the midst of a people of unclean lips: for mine eyes have seen the King, the Lord of hosts.

~ Isa. 6:1-5

Holy, Holy, Holy

When the veil is peeled open so we can peek into the manifest presence of God, the creatures that attend the throne of God cry out Holy, Holy, Joly.

Why said in this triplet?  Perhaps it is due to the godhead being three in one?  There is only one true and living God and we know that no man has seen God at any time, but God's Son had declared him.  (John 1:18)

Christ was the fullness of the godhead in bodily form. (Col. 1:19; 2:9)

Woe is me!

When Isaiah "saw the Lord" he realized his own undoing.  He confessed his lack, that he had "unclean lips".  It wasn't just the people he was preaching to; he was in the same boat with them.

God's Cleansing

God quickly responded to his humble confession with cleansing.  (Isa. 6:6-7)

God's Commission

Now, he not only "sees God" but he hears His voice, too.

Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying, Whom shall I send, and who will go for us? Then said I, Here am I; send me. (Isa. 6:8)

God asked for a volunteer and Isaiah knew this was his invitation to speak to God's people on behalf of God Himself.

The heavenly council (the triune God and His attendants) ask "who will go for US."

We are all God's messengers now.  We must GO with his message.  We are the ambassadors of the Heavenly King.

Now then we are ambassadors for Christ, as though God did beseech you by us: we pray you in Christ's stead, be ye reconciled to God.

(2 Cor. 5:20)
