Commands to Obey? There are two ways of finding things: to casually stumble upon something or to be diligently seeking something on purpose. Does the passage you are reading in God's Word contain any commands that you should obey? See the Berean Bible Study method for a more complete explanation.

December 4 Daily Discovery - Read 1 Kings Chapter 6
A Glorious House for God
And the word of the Lord came to Solomon, saying,
Concerning this house which thou art in building, if thou wilt walk in my statutes, and execute my judgments, and keep all my commandments to walk in them; then will I perform my word with thee, which I spake unto David thy father:
And I will dwell among the children of Israel, and will not forsake my people Israel.
So Solomon built the house, and finished it.
~ I Kings 6:11-14
God's Dwelling Place
2 Cor. 6:16 says "And what agreement hath the temple of God with idols? for ye are the temple of the living God; as God hath said, I will dwell in them, and walk in them; and I will be their God, and they shall be my people."
Rev. 21:3 says "And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God."
Solomon's Temple
Solomon built a house for God. A dwelling place for God in the Old Testament times, after the temporary, traveling tabernacle came a more "permanent" house of meeting called the temple.
It was surely an ornate and special place, but what really made the place special was the presence of God.
Without God's presence, it was just another place.
1 Cor. 6:19 says "What? know ye not that your body is the temple of the Holy Ghost which is in you, which ye have of God, and ye are not your own?"
My Body - God's Temple
God has decided where He really wants to live and that is within every human heart.
This is NOT figurative, but quite literal.
Where Does God Live?
Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you.
John 14:17
Acts 17:24 says "God that made the world and all things therein, seeing that he is Lord of heaven and earth, dwelleth not in temples made with hands;"
God doesn't dwell in a building, He dwells in our bodies!
Is God Comfortable in You?
We are told to "grieve not the holy Spirit of God, whereby ye are sealed unto the day of redemption" in Eph. 4:30.
God's spirit has SEALED us and He is not going anywhere.
Jesus promised that He would NEVER leave or forsake us. (Heb. 13:5)
However, if we have unconfessed sin, He is not happy.
Hopefully, you are uncomfortable when He is uncomfortable.
If we Do not love God's children, then we Cannot Love God
If a man say, I love God, and hateth his brother, he is a liar: for he that loveth not his brother whom he hath seen, how can he love God whom he hath not seen?
~ 1 John 4:10
This is true because no man has ever seen God. However, we see our brothers and sisters that HAVE GOD LIVING IN THEM, so loving them is how we love God.
