Commands to Obey? There are two ways of finding things: to casually stumble upon something or to be diligently seeking something on purpose. Does the passage you are reading in God's Word contain any commands that you should obey? See the Berean Bible Study method for a more complete explanation.

December 13 Daily Discovery - Read 2 Chronicles Chapter 6-7
When the Glory of God Fills the House
Now when Solomon had made an end of praying, the fire came down from heaven, and consumed the burnt offering and the sacrifices; and the glory of the Lord filled the house.
And the priests could not enter into the house of the Lord, because the glory of the Lord had filled the Lord's house.
And when all the children of Israel saw how the fire came down, and the glory of the Lord upon the house, they bowed themselves with their faces to the ground upon the pavement, and worshipped, and praised the Lord, saying, For he is good; for his mercy endureth for ever.
~ 2 Chron. 7:1-3
When the Burnt Offering Began
The burnt offering had been provided for God, it was already upon the altar in the temple, however, there was no fire to transform the flesh into spirit.
God demonstrated that He accepted the burnt offering when His fire fell upon it to consume it and then His glory (his cloudy or smoky presence) filled the house.
The altar for the burnt offering was outside of the holy place but within the temple court. Some of the blood of the sacrifice would be taken from the sacrifice that was offered on the day of atonement and would be sprinkled upon the mercy seat (the lid that covered the ark of the covenant) that was in the holy of holies.
The fire fell upon the sacrifice that was in the court and ALL of the congregation was able to witness this miracle.
The cloud filled the holy place so that the priests could not enter the house of the Lord.
Why did God's fire and glory fall?
Because he was pleased. He was pleased with the message that Solomon delivered to the people and he was pleased with the prayer that Solomon praying publicly to Him.
Solomon was worshipping BEFORE God's presence was made manifest.
There is another example for us in 2 Chron. 29:27
"And Hezekiah commanded to offer the burnt offering upon the altar. And when the burnt offering began, the song of the Lord began also with the trumpets, and with the instruments ordained by David king of Israel."
Has God's song left you?
Offer yourself to God as a "living sacrifice". When the burnt offering begins, the song of the Lord will begin, too.
I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service.
~ Rom. 12:1
The altar is your heart. The fire is symbolic of the Holy Spirit.
If you have become a follower of Jesus Christ, the fire is already upon the altar; God kindled this fire Himself. The fire may not be raging, but it doesn't have to be. You don't have to wait for the fire to fall. Just put the sacrifice of yourself upon it and God will accept it.
Bring back the songs!
